In today's final both will try for their first grand slam title. Tsonga, age 22 had never advanced past the fourth round
of a grand slam prior to Melbourne, but the last two weeks has played an aggressive, all court game to race to the final.
Djokovic age 20, reached the final of last year's US Open before falling to Federer 7-6(7-4), 7-6(7-2), 6-4. Djokovic
revealed a hard hitting style of play to defeat Federer this week which could serve him well in today's final.
Head to head the two players have never met on the ATP Tour. The final itself will be a breath of fresh air in a sport
where Roger Federer reaching the final of a grand slam is almost a given.
If Tsonga can uphold his extreme level as in his semifinal, he looks almost unbeatable. But I think the experience of a
more seasoned Djokovic may be a deciding factor.
Both players have explosive serves and groundstokes and will look to end
points early. I think the player who is able to take control of the point early will win. I'm picking Djokovic, but Tsonga
winning would be an even bigger breath of fresh air in a sport which had recently become somewhat predictable.
"I think every sport is waiting to have some new faces," Djokovic said. "Tsonga is
coming up. He's just an amazing athlete. He's been performing some impressive tennis in these two weeks, as have I.
