Returning this year to Memphis is men's
defending champion Kenneth Carlson of Denmark. Tommy Haas, James Blake, Ivo Karovic, Andy Murry and Tommy Robredo
are among the other well-known ATP players entered into the men's main draw. Mardy Fish of the USA and Mark Philippoussis
of Australia both were awarded main draw wildcards.
Women's defending champion Vera Zvonareva of Russia is absent this year from the women's tournament. However Veteran
Americans Amy Frazier and Lisa Raymond and their younger American counterparts Ashley Harkelroad and Jamea Jackson are
entered in the women's draw. Michaella Krajicek, sister of former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek is another notible
young women's entry.
Tournament Director, Mac Winker, is excited with this year’s line-up of players. “We have a new and upcoming superstar in
Nicole Vaidisova, much like we did last year with Maria Sharapova."
The Memphis tournament is the only professional tennis tournament in the world to be held in a private club featuring the
world's top men's and women's players.
