This year after posting semifinal results at Sydney, Australia and Marseille, France, Novak Djokovic is set to contest his first final at Dubai.

“I fought my way through in the match, really believed till the end and mentally this is a very important win for me,” top seed Djokovic said.

“If I want to stay on top of the men’s game, I have to win these matches because Simon is certainly one of the best players in the world. He plays a very unique game.”

“He’s very solid from all sides, and playing with a very small number of unforced errors, which… when you see him, you don’t think that physically he’s that strong and he has great endurance.”

Ferrer overpowered Richard Gasquet of France 6-2, 6-2 other semifinal play.

Djokovic won his lone singles grand slam title at the 2008 Australian Open but withdrew from this year's Australian Open due to heat exhaustion, muscle cramps, and soreness in the quarterfinals. Djokovic trailed Andy Roddick of the USA 7-6(7-3), 4-6, 2-6, 1-2 when he retired from the match.

This year after posting semifinal results at Sydney, Australia and Marseille, France, Djokovic is set to contest his first final at Dubai. Head to head Djokovic is tied with Ferrer 3-3 and won their last meeting at the 2008 Australian Open quarterfinals 6-0, 6-3, 7-5.

In 2007 Djokovic reached the US Open final and last year he won the bronze medal in singles at the Olympic Games.
