Naomi Osaka Falls To 78th Ranked Jil Teichman In Cincinnati Cincinnati-- Last week in Cincinnati, Ohio, the 78th ranked Jil Teichman of Switzerland used a mix of low and high balls and an offensive defense to upset the second seeded Naomi Osaka of Japan 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

After splitting the first two sets, Osaka took a 2-0 lead in the decisive set three behind powerful baseline play.

However the 24 year old left hander Teichman ran down many of Osaka’s best shots to win the following three games to lead 3-2.

Both players then committed one groundstroke error each to reach 30-15.

The Swiss then struck a down the line forehand winner to set up match point at 40-15.

Teichman netted a down the line backhand to reach 40-30.

Osaka shouted "come on" and gave a fist pump but it was too late.

The 23 year old Osaka struck an inside out forehand return long to end the match.

Teichman in the third round night match, defending and moving well, converted 6 of 12 breakpoints while Osaka struck 41 unforced errors.
