American Tommy Paul Powers To First Career Title In Stockholm Stockholm-- Saturday in the final of the Stockholm Open in Stockholm, Sweden, the 24 year old American Tommy Paul powered to his first career title after upsetting the 3rd seeded 22 year old Denis Shapovalov of Canada 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

After splitting the opening two sets of the match, the 2019 Stockholm champion Shapovalov held serve at 2 games all to take a 3-2 lead.

Then serving down 3-4, Paul held serve to level the decisive set at 4 games all.

The 18th ranked Shapovalov fell behind on his serve 0-30 after framing a backhand overhead and then striking an inside out

Paul had defeated Leo Borg of Sweden in round one 6-4, 6-2. Borg, the 18 year old son of the 11 time grand slam champion and former number one Bjorn Borg, was making his men's professional tour main draw debut in Stockholm.

In his prior best week on tour, Paul upset the fifth ranked Andrey Rublev of Russia 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, California last month in October.
