Carlos Alcaraz Returns A Winner In Buenos Aires Buenos Aires-- Wednesday at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, the top seeded Carlos Alcaraz of Spain defeated the unseeded Laslo Djere of Serbia 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 to win in his first match since November.

The 19 year old second ranked Alcaraz had missed several months from the tour due to an abdominal muscle injury.

Serving at one game all 30-40, Djere double faulted to drop serve and trail 1-2 as grand slam champion Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina looked on from the stands.

Then serving down 2-4 15-40, Djere struck an inside out

crosscourt forehand wide to lose serve and trail 2-5.

With Alcaraz serving for the set at game point, Djere hit an inside out crosscourt backhand return wide to trail 2-6.

In set two the 27 year old, 57th ranked Djere struck several powerful forehands and backhands to lead 4-3 0-40 with Alcaraz serving.

However Djere then struck three groundstroke errors while Alcaraz hit two groundtroke winners to hold serve and reach four games all.

In the following game the Serbian saved three breakpoints then struck a down the line backhand winner which he followed up with an ace down the tee to hold serve and lead 5-4.

Serving to stay in the set, Alcaraz struck a down the line backhand wide to trail 0-30.

Then on his second set point, Djere struck a down the line backhand winner to break serve and level the match at one set all.

Serving to open set three and down breakpoint, Djere netted an inside out crosscourt forehand to lose serve and trail 0-1.

In control of the match suddenly once again, Alcaraz used heavy topspin groundstrokes to take a 5-2 lead.

Serving for the match, Alcaraz struck a crosscourt forehand winner which he followed up with a down the line backhand drop shot winner on match point to seal his comeback victory.

In Friday's quarterfinals, Alcaraz meets the unseeded qualifier Dusan Lajovic of Serbia.

Alcaraz could possibly meet the fourth seeded Diego Schwartzman of Argentina in Saturday's semifinals and possibly the second seeded Cameron Norrie of Great Britain in Sunday's final round.
