However with Gauff at this point in the match slicing and highly looping many forehands, she cut her forehand errors by striking safer shots from that side.
Osaka hit her crosscourt forehands with extreme pace with several at this point landing either long or wide.
Osaka, most likely unable to maintain focus or a very high level of play due to her back injury, lost the final three games of the match before quitting the match at 6-3, 4-6 due to injury.
