Rafael Nadal’s 39 Match Roland Garros Winning Streak Snapped PARIS--Earlier this month at Roland Garros, the nine time champion and sixth seeded Rafael Nadal of Spain saw his 39 match Roland Garros winning streak snapped by the top ranked Novak Djokovic of Serbia 7-5, 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals in the Spaniard's second loss ever at Paris, France tournament.

Nadal entered the match 70-1 lifetime at Roland Garros against Djokovic who was 0-6 lifetime versus Nadal at Paris.

Djokovic had not lost a set in Paris in the early rounds and brought 39-2 2015 ATP Tour record into the encounter

as well as a 26 match winning streak.

Early in set one, Djokovic used a clever combination of aggressive groundstrokes and surprise dropshots to break serve twice to lead 4-0.

Nadal; however then stepped up his own baseline game to hit back to reach 4-5, before saving three set points to reach 5 all.

Djokovic held serve to lead 6-5.

Serving again to stay in the set, Nadal fought off two additional set points before Djokovic struck an overhead winner to set up set point six.

The Spaniard sent a down the line backhand volley wide to lose his serve and the set 7-5.

After taking set one, Djokovic appeared to become even more aggressive with his groundstrokes as Nadal delivered uncharacteristic errors and uneven baseline play which resulted in the Spaniard dropping set two and trailing in set three 0-4.

Nadal held serve to reach 1-4 before Djokovic held serve as well to lead 5-1.

Serving to stay in the match, Nadal struck a down the line forehand wide before framing a crosscourt forehand which landed long to trail 0-30.
