London-- The 2017 Wimbledon champion Roger Federer of Switzerland and the 2016 Wimbledon champion Andy Murray of Great Britain both fell short in their Wimbledon preparations last week.

Murray, whose ranking has dropped to 119 due to a recent hip surgery, was awarded a men's singles main draw wildcard into next week's Wimbledon championships.

The 39 year old Federer has won 20 grand slam singles men's titles including eight Wimbledon singles titles.

Federer first reached number one on the professional tennis tour in February of 2004.
